78°F is generally fine for most tropical plants like Java Fern and Anubias. What's your lighting like? Low light plants can get stressed if the light's too intense, even if the temp is okay. Also, check for algae, that can mess with plant health.

Solid plan. Just don't go overboard with the changes, or you'll stress the plants. Slow and steady wins the algae race.

Algae's a pain, but it's all about light and nutrients. What's your photoperiod? I cut mine to 6 hours and added floating plants to outcompete the algae. Worked like a charm after a month.

If your betta's being a bit too active for a still shot, I've found the 'live photo' feature to be a lifesaver. You can pick the best frame from the sequence and edit it into a great still image. I use a Windows device, but I'm pretty sure the iPLione has a similar feature - might be worth checking ...

I've come across micro pellets from Hikari that might be worth a shot. Zoo Med and Pices also have their own versions, you could give those a try. Another option is goldfish treats - I know they're messy, but they break up into tiny pieces that are soft and stick to the tank. You'd need some snails ...
