Thanks for the info, I'll keep that in mind

If you're gonna use RO water for topping up, wouldn't you need to mix it with your dechlorinated water, just ...

I'm running at 28c, a bit warmer than yours. Guess I'll just gotta stay on top of those water changes. Cheers for the advice, everyone ✌

Re: water evaporation

When water evaporates, it concentrates minerals like mineflakes, increasing the tank's GH beyond that of the tap water. This can be detrimental to fish, depending on the species and tap water's GH. Frequent topping up can also stress fish due to fluctuating parameters. A weekly 20% water change ...

Re: water evaporation

I normally take 2 buckets a week out, 20% of the total. With this new setup, I'm thinking of waiting till the water level drops down to the inlet, roughly 1 bucket, then removing another bucket. That way, I'm still replacing 2 buckets overall.

water evaporation

I ditched the condensation tray for a more visually appealing open top design. This should speed up water evaporation, which I'm looking forward to. Now, I'm curious - what's the general approach here: do most people simply top it up or still do a partial water change, like one bucket out and two in ...

Re: Breeding albino cory cats: eggs and spawning experiences

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. Those small white lines near the eggs are actually just bubbles and debris from the filter that's directly behind them. I did a big water change and gravel cleaning a few weeks ago, so I don't think it's a detritus worm issue. My Cory's have been doing great, I ...

Breeding albino cory cats: eggs and spawning experiences

Just had to share the latest 'gifts' from my albino Corys - they've scattered eggs all over the front of my 60-gallon tank. Here's mom being photo-bombed by one of my rams.

She's also 'decorated' two other spots with eggs, about half the amount you see in the picture. Anyone else get these ...

Re: Are cherry barbs eating my dwarf hairgrass?

I've had a similar experience with my cherry barbs and dwarf hairgrass. They're always nipping at it and I'm constantly finding bits in the filter strainer, replanting them in the hopes they'll leave it be.
