Mine did that when the temp dropped. Heater was acting up. You sure your heater's reliable? Cheap ones can be a nightmare.

I'm a big fan of Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef flakes for their red enhancers. The ingredients include plankton, dried fish protein digest, salmon, fish meal, and more. They also have cochineal and annatto seed for added color, along with salmon eggs and fish oil.

I've also experimented with different commercial foods and found my discus tend to turn their noses up at granules, it's just not their thing.

I'm curious about your choice of VibraBites for the other fish in the tank, as opposed to other commercial options.

Re: Two-inch Bully
Nature's way is to establish a pecking order. It's not about removing the bully, they just need to work it out. Keeping at least 6 discus helps spread the aggression, so it's less noticeable. But someone's always at the bottom. That's just how it is.

I've been reading up on the history of the San Merah Discus in a great reference book, 'Singapore Discus In The New Millennium' by Dr. Cillford Chan and Johnny Yip. The story of how the San Merah came to be is quite fascinating.
