I'm a big fan of Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef flakes for their red enhancers. The ingredients include plankton, dried fish protein digest, salmon, fish meal, and more. They also have cochineal and annatto seed for added color, along with salmon eggs and fish oil.

I've also experimented with different commercial foods and found my discus tend to turn their noses up at granules, it's just not their thing.

Honestly, I think that's just the nature of buying smaller fish - there's always gonna be a size difference and that leads to a pecking order. Aggression is just part of the deal. That's why some folks say to keep at least 6, the more fish you have, the less you'll notice ...

Nature's way is to establish a pecking order. It's not about removing the bully, they just need to work it out. Keeping at least 6 discus helps spread the aggression, so it's less noticeable. But someone's always at the bottom. That's just how it is.

I haven't come across San Merah for sale recently, it seems like most breeders are focusing on other varieties, with Red Cover discus being one of the more common ones I've seen.

Leopards are actually characterized by those larger striations on the face and 9 bars. On the other hand, leopard snakeskins have finer spots on the body and finer striations on the face, with those distinctive 10-14 bars of snakeskins.
