Re: Dosing strontium for coral growth
Thanks for the input, everyone. My calcium is at 420, alk at 8.5 dKH, and magnesium at 1350. I'm using Red Sea Coral Pro salt, weekly 10% changes. Flow is two Nero 5s at 70%. I'll test for strontium next time and maybe start slow.

Dosing strontium for coral growth
Has anyone had success dosing strontium for coral growth? I've been running a 75-gallon mixed reef for about a year, and my Acropora seem to have stalled. Parameters are stable, 8.1 pH, 1.025 salinity, 0 phosphate, 5 nitrate. Lighting is two AI Hydra 32s, 10 hours a day. I've heard strontium can ...

Re: new to keeping cichlids
Thanks again for the continued advice, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, more length isn't an option for me, I've checked and that's just not feasible. I've taken some more measurements and I could squeeze an extra 10-15 cm out of the width, which would help with the surface area, but the ...

Re: new to keeping cichlids
Thanks for sharing that article, it's been really helpful in giving me a better understanding of the complexities of keeping Malawi cichlids. The section on overcrowding is particularly interesting, and I have to admit, it does seem counterintuitive at first. The idea of keeping a minimum of 20 fish ...

Re: new to keeping cichlids
Thanks for the response. I appreciate the insight on overcrowding as a method to reduce aggression, but I'm more concerned about the potential impact on the fish themselves. The old inch-per-gallon rule, although not exact, gives me a rough estimate of around 55 inches of fish for a 55-gallon tank ...

Re: new to keeping cichlids
I should've clarified that my experience with planted tanks was just a background thing, and the new tank I'm planning will actually have a sand and rock setup. I appreciate the insight, thanks for sharing.

new to keeping cichlids
I've had a planted aquarium for years, but I'm itching to set up a Malawi cichlid tank, with peacocks being the main attraction. I've got a few concerns before I take the plunge.
My floor space is limited to 100cm x 50cm, so I'm thinking of getting a custom-made tank that's moderately tall. A 50cm ...
