I'm gonna take a wild guess here, but how's your filter setup? I mean, I know it sounds silly, but some of these floating plants are actually pretty sensitive to water on their leaves. I've heard that's because they're not exactly waterproof, which is kinda ironic considering they're aquatic plants ...

I'm thinking stress might be a factor here - moving from the office to home could've been a big change for him, even if he doesn't seem too bothered now.

I'm so sorry to hear about Finnegan's cloudy eye. I've been thinking, low PH can be a cause, but what about higher PH? It's at the top of the range for betta's, isn't it?
