Re: is betta tail length affecting swimming
I'm seeing some improvement with his face, but now I'm concerned about another issue.

Re: is betta tail length affecting swimming
I've had a few large-tailed male bettas before, and I've noticed they can have this issue too - the tail can be quite weighty, affecting their movement and swimming.

Re: Java fern producing small brown offshoots: new plants or a cause for concern?
I'm so excited, my Java fern has little ones. Exactly what Burgermuncher and happyone said, they're developing on the leaf undersides.
Java Fern's a no-brainer, it thrives in almost any freshwater setup with minimal fuss. It's also super easy to get it to propagate, as long as you keep the ...

Re: Java fern producing small brown offshoots: new plants or a cause for concern?
I'm inclined to think they resemble young Java ferns. They're located on the underside of the leaves, which is where spores typically develop and grow. The plant itself appears to be in good health, in my opinion.
Right on the money, that's exactly how Java ferns reproduce. Leave them be until ...

Re: identifying the betta breed
While some betta individuals are surprisingly tolerant of community life, it's essential to acknowledge that this is far from the norm. The temperament of the betta in question plays a significant role in determining their compatibility with other fish.

Re: A rather ordinary day
Picked up two female bettas from the local pet shop today, not exactly the most colourful ones but there's something about them I like. Poured the water and fish out of the bag into a 4-inch square glass tank, gave them some live daphnia to eat - they started feeding right away, no surprise there ...

I used to, but now I'm more cautious, living in a refinery town and all, don't want to risk bringing in pollutants with outside bugs.

Re: A rather ordinary day
I had a bunch on my legs when I was sat in the back yard, was quite a few to be honest, I sat there for a bit and I was getting eaten alive, after that I went back to my fish room and caught a few more to feed the fish.
