I'm setting up a low-tech tank and need some plant recommendations. What's your favorite easy-to-grow plant that doesn't need CO2 or fancy lights?

I've been using a Python too, but yeah, it's slow. My 50-gallon has sand and a few live plants. Discus seem okay, but I'm gonna try a pump like Jazzman suggested. Gotta keep the temp steady, though.

Bio balls are okay, but not great for Discus tanks. They need more surface area. Stick with Matrix or ceramic. Media order matters, yeah. Mechanical first (sponge/floss), then chemical (Purigen if you use it), then bio media. My 75 gallon's got sponges, Matrix, and a UV sterilizer. Nitrates stay ...

Yep, smooth stuff is key. My fish got scraped on a cheap ornament once. Now I only use sandblasted wood and rounded stones. Also, no sharp plastic plants!

My LFS swears by the Finnex Titanium for big tanks. Never used it myself, but their Discus are always vibrant. OP, how old are your fish? Juveniles need tighter temp control than adults.
