Re: have you ever stopped to think about your tank?

I'd be more than happy with a tank like that. As mentioned earlier, filling out the far right corner with something thick and green like Hygro could make a big difference.

It's a great-looking tank, don't get me wrong.

Re: Discus from lfs?

Consider reaching out to local breeders for your discus needs. Fish clubs can be a good resource, and they may even have auctions where you can find discus. I've had dealings with local clubs and know of a few experienced discus keepers, including a well-known author on the ...

Re: 6ft Prostar rimless tank with sump- recommedation

I've worked with various businesses that have large aquariums, and I can suggest some options for delivery. Companies like NorCal in the Bay Area can handle that for you. I've seen it firsthand.

Most local fish stores don't usually offer ...

Re: Discus Plague

I've had my fair share of battles with the plague, experiencing it 3 or 4 times, with the worst being a complete wipeout in the late 80's, followed by a few lighter cases in the 90's. I recall receiving a pair of discus out of quarantine and placing them in their own tank. This ...

Re: Back to Basics

They'll likely mature into a beautiful blue-green hue. I recall seeing a local pair with fry from Hans about a decade ago - those were some stunning fish.

Re: Two-inch Bully

That's funny. Most breeders recommend keeping small juvenile discus in smaller tanks. Here's a quote from one of them...

I use my 20 gallon tanks for breeding tanks and to house up to 20 babies 2 ˝ inch discus fish. By raising the discus fish in these smaller tanks I ...

Re: Discus Hans - DO they need supa Soft water?

I've personally seen Hans' discus thrive in local breeding and rearing environments with water hardness ranging from 70 to 120ppm.
