Re: best plants for discus aquariums
If you're gonna skip CO2, stick to easy plants. Vallisneria is another good one. Grows tall, so it's great for background. My 6 Discus school through it like it's a jungle. Just trim the tops if it gets too wild.

Re: Discus water hardness explained
Your GH and KH are fine for Discus, honestly. They're adaptable as long as params stay stable. RO water's overkill unless you're breeding. Focus on temp (86°F), clean water, and quality food. What's your feeding routine? Mine get frozen bloodworms, beef heart mix, and pellets twice a day. Growth ...

Re: wild discus vs captive bred debate
Wild ones are legit, but man, they're pricey. I got a pair last year, and they straight up refused to eat for weeks. Tank's a 55 gallon, sand substrate, and I run a canister filter. Ended up selling 'em 'cause I couldn't deal with the stress. Captive bred are chill, just as pretty if you find a ...

Thanks for the insight on the Rummy Nose Tetras. I've got a setup with a sand bottom and some driftwood, pretty bare, and I was curious why mine aren't as vibrant as the ones I had before - those were in a planted tank.

Re: New Tank - Black or clear silicone?
I've had a positive experience with resealing a tank using black silicone. The result was visually appealing. I'd definitely choose it again.

Re: Going to need a new aquarium
Life's been good, just crazy busy - no fish for a year. But I'm reviving this tank with some simple wilds to get me started. Retirement is on the horizon, and I'm excited to dive back in, but then I'll be traveling more too - still got a lot to see. Thanks for the ...

I'm taking on a resealing project with a 55 Gallon Oceanic, despite its great condition and lack of leaks. However, the internal bead is in rough shape, so I'm diving in.
I've settled on using a black silicone for the job. I'm curious - what brand or type does ...
