I've noticed my barbs ignore the taller plants. Maybe they don't like reaching up too much.

I've had success with Cryptocoryne Wendtii. It's not as delicate as it looks and the barbs leave it alone after the initial curiosity.

I just read that online and I'm freaking out a bit. I'm glad I posted here now, I think I'll set up a separate tank for that one, just in case.

They're the only ones in the tank, a 30 gallon. I'll start looking into the auratus, thanks for the ID.

My husband picked up 4 "Assorted" cichlids. I usually let him handle his tanks, but I'm curious - does anyone know what these guys are?

That's really interesting. I'd love to learn more about the age factor in determining gender - at what point can you tell for sure, or is it still a bit of a guessing game?
