Re: Why discus eggs don't hatch?
I'm new to discus but had the same problem. My LFS said it might be the substrate. Bare bottom tanks are better for breeding, right?

Re: why my discus looks pale?
How's their behavior otherwise? Hiding more than usual? If they're still active, it's probably not serious. Just keep an eye on 'em.

Re: best plants for discus aquariums
Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Gonna start with Amazon Swords and Anubias, see how they do.

best plants for discus aquariums
I'm setting up a 75-gallon tank for my Discus and wanna add some plants. What's the best choice for them? I've got sand substrate, a Fluval 307 filter, and LED lighting for 8 hours a day. Water's at 84°F, pH 6.8. No CO2 setup yet.

Re: can discus handle high nitrates?
Mine are at 25 ppm with weekly 30% changes. They seem okay, but I notice less color vibrancy compared to when nitrates were lower. Using RO water now to dial it back.

Re: ideal temp for discus comfort
Temp's one thing, but don't ignore tankmates. My discus were stressed until I removed the angelfish. Now it's just them and some tetras in the 75 gallon, temp at 84°F. They're way more relaxed.

Re: ideal temp for discus comfort
Temp's important, but don't forget lighting. My 75 gallon has low LED light, 8 hours a day. Discus are less stressed with dimmer setups. Temp's at 85°F, and they're out more since I dialed back the brightness.

Hey all, quick update - been super busy with college and work. My mom's been taking care of the discus and they're all doing great. I know daily water changes are ideal for juveniles, but with our schedules, we've been doing 2 50% water changes a week. We're gonna try to ...

Hey all, quick update. My discus are doing well, eating like champs - 5 times a day on a mix of flakes, granules, and beef heart. Daily water changes are around 20 percent and I'm making sure to siphon the tank thoroughly. Got one concern though - aggression. First few days ...

Re: New Juvenile Discus
Thanks for your insight and reply. I'll definitely take care of that algae buildup in the tank. It's a leftover from when I used to have angelfish fry in there and I was too lazy to scrub it off after they were removed. The tank water is clear and the algae is starting to fade, but I know it's still ...
