Re: Is my yellow goby having eating issues?
I'm still reeling from the loss, to be honest. The trauma of watching him struggle to eat, the drama of trying to find a solution, it's all just too much for me right now. I keep thinking about how he ate that pellet food at the pet store before I brought him home - I should've just bought the same ...

Re: Is my yellow goby having eating issues?
Yes Seffie, I lost him. I'm devastated, to be honest. Losing my yellow clown goby has really taken a toll on me. I'm not sure I'm ready to try again with another one anytime soon. I've just brought home a juvenile clown fish, about 1 1/2 inches long, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll ...

Re: Is my yellow goby having eating issues?
I've been racking my brain, trying to figure out why he just wouldn't eat anything. I'm convinced there must have been some contaminant in the tank. Not running the filter with carbon was a mistake, I realize now - I was worried about removing trace elements, but I think that was a risk I shouldn't ...

Re: Is my yellow goby having eating issues?
Those protrusions you're seeing on your yellow clown goby, I think they're actually normal - they typically have several of them. From what you've described, I'm not seeing any signs of disease, just a fish that's likely stressed and hiding when you walk by. It's not uncommon for them to taste food ...

Is my yellow goby having eating issues?
I'm really concerned about my yellow clown goby - he's having trouble eating and only seems to taste his food at times. I'll get a photo up soon, but I'm getting worried that he might have picked up some kind of parasite. When I first brought him home, I noticed a small protrusion, but now there are ...

Re: a new beginning
You're probably out of luck at Petsmart, they don't usually carry much in the way of saltwater supplies. If you're looking for seaweed, you might have to check out an aquarium that actually has marine fish on display. I was thinking of getting some clumps of coarse algae to compete with the nuisance ...

Re: a new beginning
I think tank dimensions play a big role here, you'll want coverage over most of the rock. Three watts per gallon should be fine if you're not planning a full-on reef. I've got a book that says 5500k lights are okay, but 6500k seems more like daylight and can really bring some life to the tank ...

Re: a new beginning
i was thinking about this, if the clownfish had a big anenome to host in, would the eel still go after them. on the other hand, i've heard that adding an anenome to a new tank isn't the best idea.
another thing i've found, if you've got a lot of algae and plants in the tank, they'll help take care ...

Re: Euphyllia care and troubleshooting
Here's a great read - Advanced Aquarist's coral article from 2012. Worth checking out.
Awesome find, thanks for sharing that article.
I'm still leaning towards going with the torches, I've got three different ones lined up to start. I think it'll be really cool to have them lighting up the ...

Re: Euphyllia care and troubleshooting
My experience with mixing euphyllia types has shown that torches can be quite aggressive. I've had success keeping hammers and frogspawn together, but I make sure to keep my torches at a safe distance - about a handspan away from the rest.
Thanks for the input, helps a lot. So, what if I just ...
