Re: Optimizing acan growth
Love the color boost from that reefbrite XHO. Wish I could get similar vibrancy on mine.

Re: Optimizing acan growth
They'll spread out better on rocks, but on the sand bed, they tend to grow into a ball - that's what I've gathered, anyway.

Re: Optimizing acan growth
Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I don't feed my acans directly. Instead, I mix in some oyster feast when I'm feeding my fish every couple of days, and I put my mp10 on feed mode. Bpcardona, what lighting setup are you using? Those frags of yours look great, by the way.

Optimizing acan growth
Just wondering, how's everyone's acan growth rate? Mine seem okay, but I'm not sure if they're normal or on the slower side.
Here are some pics for comparison - this one's from when I first got it on 7/19/2014, and this one's from today, 12/31/2014.

Re: can fin damage heal on its own?
Good luck with that damsel catch, I'm sure it'll be a blast. If the damage is down to the tail base, it's usually not looking good, but you never know. A hospital tank would be ideal, somewhere you could keep him isolated and treat him with something like primafix, I've heard that's great for ...

Re: can fin damage heal on its own?
I've also used Melafix in the past with some great results - it's reef-safe, non-toxic, and can be added straight to the main tank. Might be worth picking some up tomorrow.

Re: can fin damage heal on its own?
Honestly, it's a crapshoot. Sometimes those fins can regrow, but other times... not so much. I wish I had something more concrete to tell you, but your best shot is just to keep him eating well and minimize the stress. No magic formula here, just fingers crossed.
Thanks for the advice, I think ...

can fin damage heal on its own?
Got home and my Bangai Cardinal's in a bad way, fin damage is pretty similar to the pic I posted. Currently got him in a net since I don't have a quarantine tank, will this fin grow back or is it a slow decline for him? He's just a tiny guy, only about an inch long. I'm pretty sure my four stripe ...
