Re: coral pest control: flatworms

bailite wrote: Thu Apr 24, 2025 9:16 am Thanks for the tips, everyone. Gonna try siphoning and maybe grab a wrasse. Tank's a 40-gallon with a pair of clowns and a goby, so should be fine.
Solid plan. Just keep an eye on the clowns, some wrasses can be territorial. Good luck!

Re: coral pest control: flatworms

Flatworms are a pain, but you're on the right track with siphoning. I've had luck with Flatworm Exit, just gotta follow the dosage carefully. How big's your tank? Smaller systems can be trickier to treat.

coltin wrote: Mon Apr 21, 2025 6:21 pm They're essentially the same species, just varying colors. So, breeding them together is definitely doable. As for the offspring, their coloration could range from powder blue to flame red, or even something entirely in between.
So, would a powder blue gourami and an opaline gourami breed?

Powder blue and flame gourami, what a combo. Can we actually breed these two successfully?

Re: betta ate all the fry this time

When he was taking care of the babies, were you still feeding him?

Considering the water depth, try reducing it to around 8-10 inches if it's higher than that. It might help him to easily grab the fallen eggs and fry.

If this happens again, you might want to remove him before the eggs hatch, to ...

Re: betta ate all the fry this time

I've had similar issues in the past, and what I found was that the water depth made a big difference. I think the males get stressed trying to catch the eggs and fry that fall to the bottom, especially if they're not free-swimming yet. When I kept the water around 4 inches deep, they seemed to ...

betta ate all the fry this time

This is 4th time I bred him and out of 4 times he ate 2 spawns. I'm still unable to figure out why he ate all the fry this time. I conditioned him for 2 weeks, fed him 3 times a day. Both of them were fed in the breeding tank with a separator until the female was ready to spawn. Then he made a good ...

Re: Fry with white spots on betta

Can you post a pic of the fish? I'd love to see what's going on.

Whitespot doesn't just magically appear - it's gotta be introduced into the tank somehow.

I'm not sure about the methylene blue treatment - isn't that more for bacterial and fungal infections? I've read it's not effective against ...
