Re: Heater and water change advice needed

I swear by the Hydor Mini Heater - it's been a game-changer for me. I've got one in Archie's tank, which is the same size as yours. If we meet up at PW on Tuesday, I can show it to you, but unfortunately, they were out of stock when I stopped by today.

Re: why is my water cloudy with plants?

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I'll try increasing water changes and check the filter. Gravel is CaribSea, rinsed it pretty well but maybe not enough. Flow seems decent, but I'll keep an eye on it.

why is my water cloudy with plants?

My tank water turned cloudy after adding new plants. It's a 20 gallon with Java Fern and Anubias, substrate is gravel. Filter is a HOB, been running for 3 months. Water params are 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate. Lights are on 8 hours a day. What's going on?

Re: breeding betta fish without a heater

Here's my two cents. I know I'm not an expert on breeding, but I do have some concerns. First off, I think it's a bad idea to keep the female in a container without a heater and then suddenly transfer her to a tank that's 78 degrees. That's just asking for trouble - they need to be in the same water ...

Re: breeding betta fish without a heater

You could survive in a room that's 60 degrees, but honestly, would you want to?

And let's be real, bettas aren't exactly thriving in 74 degrees. They're more like, okay with it. They really love it when it's in the upper 70's, like 78 to 80 degrees.
