Might wanna check your water change routine too. If you're not vacuuming the sand properly, stuff builds up. I use a gravel vac but go slow so I don't disturb the sand too much. Also, what temp are you running? Warmer water can make odors worse.

Yeah, I'd chill on the feeding for a few days. Sometimes it's just a temporary thing. Let us know if it clears up.

Thanks everyone for the replies, really appreciate it. Looks like maintaining the tank with plants will be a challenge. Guess I'll have to reconsider the height of the tank, 3 feet might be too high.
